VSE Electronic Truck Steering

VSE Electronic Truck Steering

VSE Electronic Truck Steering is an electrohydraulic steering system for driven and non-driven axles. It is a stand-alone system, with oil pressure provided by an electrically or mechanically driven pump.

Steering systems for trucks

THE SYSTEM

THE SYSTEM

The steering system is a flexible solution for trucks with up to two steered axles. It enables long trucks with heavier loads to reach hard-to-reach locations. With this steering system it is even possible to steer 45 degrees.

The system is suitable for applications with up to 12 tonnes per steered axle and can be powered by either an electrically or mechanically driven hydraulic pump.

FEATURES

FEATURES

  • Energy efficient
  • A single ECU (electronic control unit) can be used to provide independent control of two extra axles
  • Has no negative impact on the steering system for the front axle(s) in terms of required steering force, manoeuvrability or wheel deflection
  • Allows stationary steering
  • Steers based on the Ackermann principle (optimum steering behaviour)
  • The combination of hydraulics and electronics makes it possible to install a steered axle at any location on the chassis
  • Completely independent system No energy is drawn from the steering for the front axle(s)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Electrically or mechanically driven pump
  • up to 2 steered axles possible
  • The standard steering system consists of: steering cylinder, manifold block, accumulator, ECU, front angle sensor and rear angle sensor
  • Both standard and made-to-order
  • Can be used on any type of added steering axle, up to 12 tonnes per axle, including independent wheel suspension
  • Steering angle up to 45 degrees
  • Weight from 37 kg for one steered axle

EASY INSTALLATION

EASY INSTALLATION

  • Few components and automatic air bleeding, making it well-suited to assembly line installation
  • Semi-automatic system calibration
  • A single installation can even be used to control two extra axles

SAFETY

SAFETY

  • The steering system is speed-dependent: as the vehicle speed increases, the maximum steering angle is gradually reduced. At a certain speed the axle is fully centred and no longer steers
  • Unique safety concept based on the use of a dual-circuit cylinder design with active centring of the axle
  • The steering system has no negative impact on the steering system for the front axle(s) in terms of required steering force, manoeuvrability or wheel deflection
