Proven electro-hydraulic rear-axle steering for articulated, long and heavy buses

For buses with a long wheelbase, high passenger capacity or electric drive, manoeuvrability is essential to ensure they can be operated safely and efficiently. ETS (electro-hydraulic steering) actively steers one or more additional axles, thereby reducing the turning circle. Thanks to its stand-alone design featuring its own electric or mechanical pump, the system is also ideal for electric bus platforms that lack a central hydraulic system.

Why choose ETS for buses?

Shorter turning circle in tight urban situations and depots
ETS reduces the turning circle of long and articulated buses, improving their manoeuvrability in urban environments and depots.

Stable at higher speeds
ETS’s speed-dependent control system provides excellent manoeuvrability at low speeds and stable, predictable handling at higher speeds.

Stand-alone, without modification to the front-axle steering
ETS is independent of the front-axle steering system and can be flexibly integrated, including with electric vehicle platforms.

Built for heavy bus applications
ETS can support steering angles of up to 45° and is ideal for bus platforms that have high axle loads and complex vehicle configurations.

Safety, efficiency and integration

Less tyre wear through the Ackermann steering principle
The Ackermann steering principle minimises friction, reducing tyre wear and the total cost of ownership.

ASIL-C certified in accordance with ISO 26262
The ASIL-C safety concept features a dual-circuit cylinder and active centring to ensure predictable handling, even in the event of a system failure.

80% standard, 20% tailored to your bus
ETS offers a standardised approach that can be customised to suit vehicle configuration, axle load profile, and operational deployment.
